Based in New York, the client is a nonprofit research and policy organization which identify, reduce and prevent problematic use, abuse, and dependence on alcohol and drugs.

The Business Challenges

The client needed a mobile platform where patients can interact with health coaches & get immediate assistance on substance use & addictive behaviors, with an aim to promote health & provide access to services for those at risk or suffering from addiction. To combat for this crusade, they were looking for a technical partner to eliminate following challenges:


Tedious and monotonous data entry system


Inefficiency in retrieving meaningful data from pile of files


Pro-active screening of patients based on various questionnaires


Developing a complex algorithm to infer patient’s severity based on their answering patterns

Diaspark replaced client’s standalone windows based system to a web based subscription fulfillment system with integrated online customer care and shopping cart capabilities for all their brands.

Developed an iPad application for 24*7 interaction of patients and health coaches

Mechanism for different level of questionnaires: Alcohol screening, Drug screening & Alcohol + Drug screening

Created an interface that requires minimum level of interaction for addicts to efficiently communicate their information

Engineered an algorithm to interpret results based on patient’s answers
