The Client

The client is a global biopharmaceutical company whose mission is to discover, develop and deliver innovative medicines that help patients prevail over serious diseases. Their medicines are helping millions of patients around the world in their fight against cancer, cardiovascular disease, hepatitis B, HIV/AIDS and rheumatoid arthritis.

The Business Objectives
The client has more than 20,000 employees globally, and was going through internal re-organization. Objective was to build a sense of community during this time. Hence, the idea to build an intranet portal where employees across the world can share their stories of what they like about the organization, and how certain medicines have helped changing lives of their near and dear ones:


Invite employees to be part of the bigger picture / global workforce


Engage and connect employees with each other, executives and the company


Incentivize employees to share their personal stories to the Hub about why they are passionate about their work


Promote stories internally through tool hub, meetings and other communications channels

Diaspark’s Solution

We created a multi-lingual, web interface using modern Enterprise Information Architecture (EIA) with a responsive design, as per the branding guidelines provided by client. We also, integrated this portal within their existing global intranet

  • Employees from different regions of world could submit their stories, along with pictures and/or videos, based on the contest theme and rules
  • Stories were reviewed and published on the SharePoint based intranet portal by contest admins, following which employees could vote on their favorite stories
  • These stories could be submitted in their regional languages, which would be translated in English, and published in both regional and English languages
  • Stories submitted could be tagged for a particular country, function, business unit or therapeutic area
  • Contest feed page to display “most liked” and “randomly selected” stories, with “number of likes” and link to “employee profile page” – similar to Facebook
  • Integrated Custom search — leveraging SharePoint 2013 engine features. The result set was tailored to show only published and approved content
  • The published stories were also integrated with the corporate Yammer network
